As part of the Teaching Practicum Course conducted by the Department of Primary Education within the Faculty of Education at Fırat University, an information and evaluation meeting regarding the practicum process was held online on May 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Eyüp Bozkurt, Head of the Department of Primary Education; Dr. Oğuzhan Toker, Coordinator of the Teaching Practicum Course; faculty advisors responsible for the course; cooperating teachers; and pre-service teachers. Representatives from Kıbrıs Şehitleri Primary School, Çatalçeşme Primary School, and 17 Kasım Primary School, where the practicum activities are carried out, also participated in the meeting.
The opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Eyüp Bozkurt, who emphasized the importance of the Teaching Practicum Course in the professional development of pre-service teachers, the quality of the practicum process, and the necessity of strong collaboration between universities and schools.
Following the opening remarks, Dr. Oğuzhan Toker provided detailed information regarding the procedures and requirements of the practicum process, including the practicum schedule, attendance regulations, lesson plan preparation, the roles and responsibilities of pre-service teachers, and evaluation criteria.
During the meeting, faculty advisors and cooperating teachers shared important recommendations to help pre-service teachers benefit from the practicum experience to the fullest extent possible. Particular attention was given to compliance with school regulations, professional ethics, classroom management, instructional planning, and effective communication.
In the evaluation session, the opinions, suggestions, and expectations of the cooperating teachers were gathered. They highlighted the importance of active participation in practicum activities, regular lesson preparation, adaptation to school culture, and taking professional feedback into consideration. Suggestions for maintaining and strengthening collaboration between the university and partner schools were also discussed, allowing for a productive exchange of ideas among participants.
In addition, potential challenges that might arise during the practicum process were evaluated, possible solutions were discussed, and questions from pre-service teachers were addressed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all stakeholders reached a shared understanding regarding the effective and productive implementation of the Teaching Practicum Course. The meeting ended with expressions of appreciation to all participants and best wishes for a successful practicum experience.
