The general aim of the Fırat University Education Faculty Basic Education Department Classroom Teaching Undergraduate Program is primary school 1-4. It is to train primary school students to acquire the basic knowledge, skills, behaviors and habits required by the age, to educate them in accordance with scientific developments, to produce ideas in this field, and to conduct studies and researches.
Our department was merged with the Preschool Teaching Program in 2017 and gathered under the Department of Basic Education. The duration of our program is 4 years, consisting of 8 semesters. According to the new curriculum put into practice in 2017, 49% of our courses are field education, 18% are general culture and 33% are vocational knowledge courses. Elective courses constitute approximately 13% of the courses in these three groups. In the 7th and 8th semesters of our new program, the "Teaching Practice" courses and the theoretical courses taken for six semesters are transformed into practice. Students who complete the Classroom Teaching Program are awarded the "Fırat University Education Faculty Undergraduate Diploma". Our graduates attend the 1st-4th grades of primary schools within the official (village, city, etc.) and private education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. They can work as Class Teachers in their classrooms. If they meet the necessary conditions after starting their working life, they can take titles such as "expert teacher" or "head teacher" and move up the teaching career ladder. They can work in science and art centers, ministries, Provincial Directorates of National Education, as well as take part in academic staff at universities by doing postgraduate studies and specialize in the profession.

Placement in the Classroom Teaching Program is carried out according to the results of the YKS exam and with the EA score type. A total of 4758 quotas are allocated to the Primary Education Program from 92 universities across Turkey, and according to the 2020 YKS results, 4749 people have been placed in the Primary Education Program at various universities. The number of students placed in the Fırat University Classroom Teaching Program in 2020 is 52.
According to the 2020 YKS results, the score of the last student placed in our department is 357,64186, and the success order is 114,761. The score of our student who was first placed in our department is 394,11778, and his success ranking is 44,373. 57.7% of our settled students are from Anatolian High School (Official High Schools Teaching in a Foreign Language). Again, according to the 2020 YKS results, the Fırat University Classroom Teaching Program was preferred by 1707 students, and 52 students were able to enter the department as a result of the first placement. The number of students who preferred the Fırat University Classroom Teaching Program in the first place was 94, the number of students who preferred it in the first three places was 403 and the number of students who chose it in the first nine was 1037.
Within the scope of Erasmus, Mevlana and Farabi Student Exchange Programs in the Primary School Teaching Program, it is possible to study at contracted universities in our country and abroad. According to the 2019-2020 Academic Year Higher Education statistical data, 3 of our students went to other universities with the Farabi exchange program and 5 students came to our department from different universities.
There are currently 308 students registered in our department. Of our students, 219 (71.1%) are female and 89 (28.9%) are male students.
According to the 2019 KPPS results, our department is in the 23rd place (72,72790) among 92 universities in terms of KPSS-1 General Ability-General Culture score average, and 40th (70,39938) among 92 universities as KPSS-2 Educational Sciences score average.
There is a Master's Program with Thesis in our department, studies are continuing to open Distance Education Master's and Doctorate Programs without Thesis. We also have Double Major and Minor Programs.
