“Addiction Awareness Event by Yeşilay at Our Faculty of Education”

An awareness event on addictions was organized by Yeşilay (the Turkish Green Crescent Society) at Fırat University Faculty of Education, attended by students and faculty members.

During the program, Yeşilay representatives provided detailed information on various types of addictions, including substance, tobacco, alcohol, technology, and gambling addictions. Participants were informed about the individual, social, and psychological effects of addictions, while the importance of leading a healthy life was highlighted.

The event also introduced Yeşilay’s activities in different countries around the world, its national and international projects, and the rehabilitation, counseling, and social support services it offers to individuals seeking to overcome addictions. In particular, the free psychological support provided through Yeşilay Counseling Centers (YEDAM) was explained with concrete examples.

The program, which drew significant interest from students and faculty members, emphasized the importance of individual awareness, family support, and social solidarity in the fight against addiction. At the end of the session, participants’ questions were answered, and a call was made to join Yeşilay’s volunteer activities.
